I Will Not Die An Unlived Life!

I love this poem: I will not die an unlived life. I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire. I choose to inhabit my days, to allow my living to open me, to make me less afraid, more accessible; to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise. I choose to risk my significance, to live so that which came to me as seed goes to the next as blossom, and that which came to me as blossom, goes on as fruit. ~ Dawna Markova A year ago, I gave myself the assignment to read this poem every morning and evening for a month. I was not the same person at the end of that month!
So many amazing opportunities, synchronicities, and invitations to adventure flowed my way.
We can often get caught up in so much attachment to our lives feeling safe and predictable, unknowingly fighting against our own growth. Fear of change is so common. But change is the constant in life, it's the current we are immersed in. We can either let go and flow with the current, floating merrily onward in the river of life, allowing that current to effortlessly move us through great vistas. Or we can cling so desperately to the place we are at, like trying to grip a slippery rock, struggling all the time and bemoaning the suffering and struggle we feel trapped in. If only we could realize that we can let go and trust the current, trust the gentleness of this loving stream of Life we are in. I love that line, "I chose to inhabit my days." Yes! How fantastic it feels to be fully energetically present to Life! To make the most out of every day. An amazing life does not materialize from planning on it just happening one day in the future. Magic happens when you are fully present, moment to moment. A series of powerfully present moments turns into an amazing day, a surprisingly productive week, a transformative month. I think of the way many of us feel when on vacation... all of the sudden, the days are long and rich and full of so much living. There's no reason why every day can't be that way! If we committed to making the most of all of life the way we automatically commit to making the most of a vacation because we've paid for it, planned it, etc, then life becomes ever so much more magickal and blissful. I found that reading this powerfully evocative poem every day, once upon waking and once before bed, for one full month, was a great way to remind myself of my commitment to stay conscious and present to this amazing gift of my Life, right now. I continued for another month and my old self would have been amazed, simply amazed by where I found myself 2 months later... (Just for starters, I went to Burning Man for the first time in 2011, while there, heard about a scholarship to train in EFT with my #1 choice of teacher, at a villa in Tuscany - got the scholarship, spent 3 weeks in heaven, I mean, Tuscany, with a community of inspiring healers and thought leaders, manifested enough funds to make all of this possible, prayed with ayahuasca for the first time... yeah, big changes! All aligning me more powerfully with my life purpose.)
That poem was like my safety floaties in the river. I didn't need to take any breaks to cling to any rocks at all, just found myself bouyed along by this trust and gentle reminder from a deeper wisdom that I would rather live fully open to existence than closed off and afraid. Does your deeper wisdom resonate with this poem? Do you feel an unnameable stirring inside you when you read it? I invite you to give yourself a 30 day challenge of reading this poem every day, once upon waking and once upon going to sleep, and see what happens. I would be delighted to read about any experiences or adventures you'd like to share with me in the comments :) Tips on getting the most out of this 30 day challenge:
Make this the first thing you do upon waking and the last thing you do before falling asleep. Let your unconscious get the message that more important than worrying about things, or doing things for other people, you are committing to Living Your Precious Life.
Read the poem out loud. Seriously. This helps your mind and psyche to really resonate with it.
Read it out loud as many times as you need to feel an emotional resonance.
What might an emotional resonance feel like? You may feel warm, teary eyed when you read it. You want to let the words seep into you so you may read it more slowly and haltingly when you're emotionally resonating with it.
The point of this is to let yourself connect with the energy of what it feels like to be super super committed to Living Your Precious Life, fully present and alive, 100% of the time. Our powerful old habits like to keep us asleep most of the time and fully present and alive maybe 5%-20% for the average person. It's quite the spiritual achievement to live fully present and alive 100% of the time, so don't be hard on yourself if you can't do that, but at least let yourself emotionally resonate with what that could feel like. Some part of you will get it. And you will literally change the way you think about your day the more you allow this message to touch you emotionally.
How will you blossom? And what fruits shall you offer the world?
